Question by Dalton0556: If i buy a leveling kit and bigger tires and wheels do i need to get a programmer?
i have a 2005 f150 4×4 and getting bigger tires and wheels would it be wise to get a programmer, i heard that the edge evolution would be perfect and that it will help with my shifting time in my truck with the new tires, if it added hp and mpg that would be great

You need to readjust the speedometer because it will read a lower speed if you increase tire size.
YES, you need to get something to tell your cars computer that it has bigger tires now. ESPECIALLY with newer car that have electronically controlled transmissions, stability control, ABS, etc. Without getting into exactly how, your truck’s computer will think the truck is going slower than the truck actually is (speedometer will also not be right but not a big deal). This will cause all sorts of transmission shifting issues because it will see the vehicle speed and notice it doesn’t correlate to engine speed as it should. This will freak the computer out and you will have issues. If the tires are almost the same size, you might get away with it. But if your going to put 35+ inch tires you need a programmer
No, but depending on how big your planing to go the speedometer will need to be adjusted. You should be ok up to 35′s, If you are planning n bigger tires, I recommend a 4.10 or 4.56 gear ratio upgrade. This upgrade will maximize the amount of power you use at the axle vs how much you have. ie. more torque output at the axle(s)
