I purchased one of these for my 2001 F-150 5.4L in hopes of getting better gas mileage. I was very impressed by its features but I recommend reading the manual first as there are good tidbits of information in there. I went straight to Level 2 (Tow Program). Even though I’m not normally towing anything the manual states that the only gains you get out of level 1 is better shifting which extends your tranny life. On level 2 I can definately tell a difference in performace (shifting and getting up to speed). According to the instant and average miles per gallon features I’ve gained about 3 mpg. One additional great feature about the Edge Evolution is the ability to adjust tire size; the downfall of this is that when I adjusted them according to the manual it threw my speedometer off almost 10MPH. I sent in an email to their tech support inquiring about this and asking them if it messed with the MPG readings and they were no help at all and actually told me not to rely on the system and the only way to get accurate MPG readings was to compute it myself when filling up gas. I just played around with the tire adjustments with different sizes until my speedo and the unit were inline with my GPS MPH reading. Overall this seems like a great product so far and I am truley happy with it. Well worth the money.

Not worth the money. First off Amazon sent out the wrong programmer. They did however next day ship out the right one. Followed the directions to a “T” and all I got was a truck that did not start. It was late in the day on a Friday, so I had to go all weekend with out a truck until Edge’s tech support opened up on Monday. They sent out an update over the internet which did fix the problem. I switched between all the settings several times and it seems to work, but I just don’t trust it for fear that I may get stranded. I bought this because I tow a small camper and was looking for some extra power. The only thing I noticed was a transmission that shifts so hard that I’m affraid it is going to blow up. The pod that comes with it fits poorly and the color and surface finish looks cheap. I got more bang for the buck by installing aftermarket exhaust. In my opinion if you want more horsepower, buy a different truck with a bigger engine, thats what I will be doing this fall.
