Do the aftermarket plug in chips help economy in diesel pickups? | Diesel Chips
Question by cliff: Do the aftermarket plug in chips help economy in diesel pickups?
I have a 2008 chevy with a duramax diesel. The local dealer did an update on the computer and it knocked my mileage down by about 2 miles per gallon. Do the aftermarket chips help fuel mileage like they state or just add power?

I am a diesel mechanic,I am assuming that this rig is still
under warranty,If so go back to the dealer and state your
case and you may find that they boosted power now that
break in is done, ask them to put it back to the way it was
they can do this ! If you are mostly interested in milage of
course.
The aftermarket chips do work as they claim but keep in
mind that changing it may void your warranty and they will
be able to tell if you did change it. I can track my big trucks
by satellite and check every aspect of the engine while it is
going down the road.when I download an ECM from my
trucks it will give me a history back to the first time it was
started if I like.of course no one can track yours but bet on
the logged history. J.R.
