Couple car questions for someone who knows alot about cars? | Diesel Chips
Question by ~*Squishy*~: Couple car questions for someone who knows alot about cars?
Ok first off i heard people have been putting speed chips in their diesel trucks and it increases their fuel economy. I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima and it gets good gas mileage but if i were to put a “speed chip” in my car would it increase my fuel economy…
Also if my car is a 2004 how many miles “guestimately” should it have on it
Im the second owner on the car so hopefully we’ll be good to go for a long long time plus it has really low miles (as so everybody tells me)

i have one in my Merc they do save about 10% on fuel and give more power. Make sure you fit one specific to your engine dont buy one that supposedly fits all. They dont work! if its private use 60-80,000k for business use many more 200,000 plus is possible.
the most important thing is a service history and old mots to confirm miles. if its had lots of drivers 140,000 is about as long as the engine will go without a re-build.

I am not sure about the speed chip but I am good with mileage on cars.
If your car is a 2004, it should have between 50 or 60,000 miles on it. People average about 10,000 miles a year.
Which country are you in?
I am in the UK and have never heard of these. Therefore if you are in America diesel is unpopular and this is probably that’s why you use these chips.
In Europe, Germany to be specific, there is a high-performance 12 cylinder diesel made by Audi.
I can only assume that these don’t give too much extra ‘mpg’s’ but European vehicles have high-power diesels anyway.
